A fire broke out at a readymade garment (RMG) factory at Banshbaria area in Sitakunda of Chattogram yesterday. According to Fire Service and Civil Defense Agrabad Control Room sources, the fire broke out at around 11.30 am and soon engulfed the three-story building. On information, five firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the flame at around 1.30pm, said Purna Chandra Murshadi, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defense in Chattogram. The cause of the fire and amount of damage are yet to be known. A committee will be formed in this regard, said Murshadi. However, the owner of the factory claimed that the fire was originated from an electric short-circuit.
