A mobile court yesterday sealed off a residential hotel for running without licence and operating ‘illegal’ activities and arrested 39 people, including its manager and 27 women.
Officer in charge of Joydebpur police station Khandaker Rezaul Hasan Reza said on secret information, a team of law enforcers conducted a raid at hotel Paraid International at Dighirchala area of the city and arrested 39 people along with its manager Bolai Chandra.
Among the arrested, 27 were women and 12 men who were engaged with unsocial activities. Later, a mobile court led by executive magistrate Rebeka Sultana and Mohammed Nur Hossain fined Tk 12,000 to each of 27 women and manager Bolai. Besides, the court also sentenced 11 others and manager to three months in imprisonment. Police said that the manager has been operating the hotel without any permission.
Later, police sealed off the hotel.
