Attack on SUST teachers

Judicial inquiry demanded

 A faction of pro-BNP-Jamaat teachers’ of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) under the banner of ‘Mohan Muktijuddha, Bangladeshi Jatiyatabad O Dhormiyo Mullobudhe Shroddhashil Shikkhak Forum’ demanded judicial inquiry on the present situation of the campus, including the incident of August 30.
Prof Dr Md Shajedul Karim, convener of the teachers’ forum, demanded it at a press conference at 11:30am on the campus yesterday.
Prof Shajedul Karim said in a written statement said some teachers in the university began movement against vice-chancellor for their own interests and demanded formation  of a full judicial inquiry to avert repetition of such incident.
Students have no opportunity to get involved in the teachers movement in any way.
Responding to a question, he said, we are not in favour of the vice-chancellor or protesting teachers. We are in favour of the university. We want to let the university research and academic activities. It is not obstructed in any way.
He will not make any comment on the incident that happened on August 30 as it is still under investigation.
Professor Dr Kamal Ahmed Chowdhury, Prof Md Gulam Ali Hayder Chowdhury, Prof Nazrul Islam were also present at the press conference, among others.
On the other hand, The teachers who were ‘assaulted by BCL activists’ on the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology(SUST) campus on August 30 observed a day long hunger strike yesterday demanding immediate removal of its Vice-chancellor Prof Aminul Haque Bhuyan from his post as a part of their pre-schedule programme.
