RAJSHAHI: Detectives rescued a minor boy from Shah Makhdum area of the city on Tuesday evening four days after his abduction, reports UNB.
The rescued was identified as Meherab Hossain, 3, son of Enamul Haque, a resident of Jamghora village of Ashulia on the outskirts of the capital. Detective Branch of police also arrested Abhi Ahmed, son of Abul Kashem, hailing from Noakhali district, in this connection.
Eftekhayer Alam, assistant commissioner of the Detective Branch of Police of Rajshahi, said at a press briefing that Abhi, a garment worker, used to live in the house of Meherab. He abducted Meherab from his house on September 5.
Later he demanded Tk3 lakh as ransom over phone. The victim’s family also gave them Tk 15,000 through mobile banking system bKash.
Meherab’s family filed a case with Ashulia police station in this connection. On secret information that Abhi was staying in his father-in-law’s house, DB police conducted a drive in the area around 6pm and arrested him. They also rescued Meherab from the house.
