Bangladesh Test and T20 captain Shakib Al Hasan is due to return home from Mumbai, today after the conclusion of his nearly two month-long stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL-11).
This season the talented left-handed all-rounder played all the matches for the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad before the final fixture against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
The iconic all-rounder showcased his dexterity with willow and cherry in the cash-rich T20 tournament, where in he had scored 216 runs and scalped 14 wickets in the 17-match road string.
The 31-year-old south-paw will not fly to Dehradun in Uttarakhand with the team on May 29. He is scheduled to join the team later on.
But Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) media manager Rabeed Imam told media that Shakib will join the team on May 31 before the one-off practice match against the team who will be formed with the top-tier Afghan players along with some of the national team players.
The warm-up match will be played on June 1, just two days before the main three-match T20 international series.
Bangladesh will launch their Dehradun campaign against improved Afghanistan at the newly-built Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uttarakhand on June 3.
The remaining matches of the series will be held at the same venue on June 5 and 7 respectively.
