Five sent to Rajshahi jail over proxy

Five persons, along with a female student of Rajshahi University (RU), were sent to jail on Saturday over giving proxy in exchange of money of government primary assistant teacher recruitment test.Earlier, they were arrested in a joint drive by SM Abdul Kader, deputy commissioner of Rajshahi and Saiful Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Chargat, said Aman Ullah, officer in charge of Boalia police station.

They were identified as RU student Tusmir Sheikh, daughter of Selim Sheikh, resident of Shantahar under Bogura district, mediator—Saidur Rahman, son of Jahidul Islam and resident of same district, Sarwar Jahan, son of Abu Bakar, resident of Shibganj under Chapaynababgonj district and Alamgir Hossain, son of Ahad Ali of Mohonpor in the Rajshshi city. They all were arrested from Rajshahi City College centre and adjacent area.

On the other hand, Saleh Mia, resident of Sadurmor under Rajshahi metropolitan area was arrested for ‘copying’ in the examination.

Rashidul Islam, sub-inspector of detective police of Metropolitan unit said, RU student Tasmir was arrested for her alleged involvement in giving proxy for

another female candidate Sakila in exchange of Tk 10 lakh while Sakila’s husband Alam had already paid Tk 80,000.

Besides, a handset, answer of questions and a handsome amount of money were seized  from her possession, he said  adding that later the arrestees were sent to Rajshahi central jail.
