State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malek on Sunday warned that action will be taken against private hospitals if found conducting cesarean operation to pregnant women unnecessarily, reports UNB. “The rate of cesarean operation at private hospitals is over 70-80 per cent which should not be more than 15 per cent. If any hospital is found involved in conducting cesarean operation unnecessarily than it will be shut down,” he said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.
Replying to a question on rise in cesarean operation in case of delivery, the Minister said “We are working for controlling it. Already we have made a form to reduce cesarean operation and if any private hospital conduct cesarean operation than it must go through accountability. Besides, the cause of cesarean will be written on the form.”
He noted that when a woman undergoes cesarean operation for giving birth to a child, she faces many problems.
Talking about the Safe Motherhood Day, he said the government has taken various programme including rally and discussion at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, marking the day.
