Shahid Hamid elected executive board member of PATA Worldwide

Shahid Hamid, executive director of Dhaka Regency Hotel and Resort, has been elected as executive board member of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Worldwide.

He was elected during the PATA annual summit held this week in Gangwon-do, South Korea, the company said in a press statement.

 This is the first time, PATA has elected a Bangladeshi citizen to serve on its executive board, a policy-making body comprising of only twelve members from the 95 national tourism organisations affiliated with the association, the statement added.

Hamid, is a veteran of 40 years in the hospitality and tourism industry, has been serving as the chairman of PATA Bangladesh Chapter since 2014, a responsibility he will continue to fulfill in addition to his new appointment.
