Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon after holding a two-hour-long intense discussion with Gary Kirsten told media that they are hopeful to get their full set-up of the coaching staffs including head coach for the national team within the next June 15.

Papon also said that they will finalize the appointments of coaches through the process of interview (if needed) before the West Indies tour.

Bangladesh will take off West Indies on June 24-25 to play a full package of games including two-Test series along with three-ODI as many as T20 international series.

“I’ve got an idea after talking with Kirsten that we will get full setup of the coaching staffs for the national team prior to the West Indies tour. The team will fly to West Indies towards June 24-25,” said Nazmul Hassan Papon.

“He (Kirsten) will come again thinking the tour of West Indies. We hope that we could be completed the process of the coaches’ appointments within the next three weeks,” Papon told media after holding around two-hour-long meeting at his Beximco Pharmaceutical office in the capital yesterday.

“We’ve to take the final decision of the coach’s appointment before the June 15. For this we will take interview of the enlisted candidate of the coaches from where we’ll actually select our head coach. There is a matter of us to take our own decision to select head coach. Hopefully the issue will soon be resolved,” he added.

Papon said that he has also discussed with Kirsten about the coaches for the Bangladesh ‘A’ Team, High Performance (HP), Under-19, which will be started

“Today I held an individual discussion with Kirsten where in I also talked about coaches for the Bangladesh ‘A’ Team, High Performance (HP), Under-19 beside the national team coaches,” the BCB president said.

“We also discussed about how the process of the coaches’ appointments, how they (coaches) will work and how their coaching experience is,” he continued.

As per Papon, Kirsten held talks with players, selectors, local coaches (and experts) and directors to get an overall idea of the Bangladesh Cricket and its structure. Then he shared his views with the president.

“He wanted to know how many coaches we have in the country and how their coaching capabilities are. Actually he takes his idea about those things,” he said, adding that he will leave today but maybe he will come in Bangladesh again.

“So far as I saw him he took a good idea about us and our cricket structure.”

“It has been deemed to him Bangladesh have a good potential. For this he thinks that if we take our decision in cool head, we could then be able to appoint ‘right people’ in right place. It’ll be very good for the Bangladesh cricket.”

The way cricket is going on adopting with the changing situation, he suggested, they’ve to absorb it unless they will lag behind others. And so, he suggested that Bangladesh should change their past mentality and focus more on Test. More importantly they should appoint separate coaches for separate format.

“We will have a head coach. Separate coach for the different formats would be better. Coaches should be appointed for the white ball and red ball. We should give importance Test discretely,” he said.

“We may have two-three consultants for three formats under the head coach. The way the games are going on we should not be stayed in the past mentality,” he also said.

“He will leave today but he will work there also. He will take interview to many others. He has a list of coaches. He also talks with some new coaches. Already he communicates with them,” he added.
