2 held with 26,000 yaba pills in Ctg

Chattogram: Law enforcers in separate drives arrested two persons and seized 26,000 pieces of yaba tablets in Karnaphuli and JBC Market areas of Chattogram on Sunday, reports UNB. Detectives in a drive arrested a young man along with 20,000 yaba tablets from Maizyartek area under Karnaphuli Police Station on Sunday night. The arrestee was identified as Nur Helal, 25. Asif Mohiuddin, assistant commissioner of Detective Branch of Police, said being tipped off, a team of DB police conducted the drive in the area at night and stopped motorcyclist Nur Helal on suspicion. Later, they recovered the yaba tablets from the oil tank of the motorcycle. The DB police arrested the youth and seized the vehicle. A case was filed.
In another drive, members of Rab-7 arrested an alleged drug peddler with 6,000 pieces of yaba pills from the JBC Market area in the port city. The arrestee was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 28, of Mogra village in Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria district. Acting on a tip-off, a team of elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested Shafiqul with the contraband yaba pills. The street value of the contraband drugs is Tk 25 lakh.
