Bangladesh Bank (BB) has issued a guideline for illiterate customers as they can easily withdraw cash from banks through cheque, reports BSS.
The central bank in a circular yesterday said all the scheduled banks will have to fill up the Know Your Customer (KYC) of illiterate customer properly.
Apart from this, the circular said, banks can initiate biometrics, iris, recognition and facial recognition to make cash transactions easy for illiterate customers.
“For implementing the process, the branches of all banks will have to build up their capacity for biometric information receiving and examine,” the circular said.
If any customer has no ability to come a branch, a nominated bank official can go to the customer’s house for taking cheque and a family member of the customer can withdraw the money from cash counter.
If the customer comes to the branch alone, bank official can write his or her cheque. In that case, bank official will have to read out the amount of money to the customer.
