The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources Ministry yesterday recommended quick dredging of Buriganga, Shitalakhya and Turag Rivers on priority basis, reports BSS. The recommendations were made at the 36th meeting of the committee, held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here, according to a press release. With Committee Chairman Ramesh Chandra Sen in the chair, the meeting was attended by State Minister for Water Resources Mohammad Nazrul Islam MP, AKM Fazlul Haque MP, M Faridul Haque Khan MP, Rezwan Ahmad Tawfiq MP, Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury MP and Selina Jahan Lita MP.
At the meeting, participants of the committee discussed activities of Mechanical Equipment Directorate, progress of the flood control road cum embankment project in the Bangladesh Economic Zone (BEZA) in Mirsarai upazila of Chittagong district and recommended recruitment of required manpower.
