Abahani Limited will take on Farashganj Sporting Club in the final of the Walton Under-18 Football tournament today at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 4:30pm.
Coaches and managers of both sides are optimistic to win the trophy of the age group tournament when they expressed their expectation in a press conference yesterday at the BFF House.
Meanwhile, the tournament started with these two teams played the opening match and they are facing each other in the final also when their first match was something disruptive when Farashganj Sporting Club despite winning the match were fined three points due to fielding a player, who was registered for two teams.
However, Farashganj after the trouble of the first match did not look back and made their final berth after winning rest of the league phase match and the matches of knockout stage.
Farashganj captain, Nayan Hossain said, “We don’t want to bring back those matter, we forget all what happened, now we are looking forward to win the trophy defeating Abahani. My target is to play in the national side in future.”
Coach of Farashganj, Abu Faisal Ahmed said, “Our first target was to do good result and after the incident of the first match, we improved match by match and moved into the final and hope will be champions by defeating Abahani.” Abahani manager Sattayajit Das Rupu said, “I think it is the important that this tournament encouraged young booters and if it will continue we will get quality players for future.”
“Abahani always formed team to be champions and will try to prove it with winning the title of this tournament. Opponents are always strong, Farashganj also proved that they are strong making their place in the final.”
Abahani captain Rafiqul Islam said, “I am happy having the opportunity to play in Abahani. We had short time to take preparation. We have good players in the team, hope we will be able to become champions.”
