An eleventh hour strike from Biplob Kirti steered the Sonadighi High School to celebrate the Clear Men Bangladesh Under-17 School Football Championship title defeating BAF Shaheen School by a solitary goal in the final yesterday.

Sonadighi School also showed some of their brilliance just playing with counter attack strategy, as their organised defence line confidently dealt with the continuous pressure from Shaheen School when they also chased the opponents defence to make threats.
Both the teams had an easy opportunity each to score goal earlier in the second half of 60 minutes game but the defenders denied successfully when finally Biplob Kirti of Sonadighi stunned all with an excellent header on a Pabitra Kumar free kick to score the all important goal during the injury time of the match.
After the match, manager of the Sonadighi High School, Akbar Ali said, “We have no ground, we had to practice at the Matikata Adarsa College ground. We worked with 60 boys of under-15, 16 and 17 and picked 15 boys for the final squad.”
“Most of the players (11 players) in the team are tribal, some of the pioneer and third division team officials of Dhaka communicate with us, as some of the boys may play in Dhaka.”
“Actually, most of the players are coming from the underprivileged family and our ability are very limited, we can’t give them enough facilities, but there are talented players. If Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) would help us we can provide talented players.”
The head master of the Sonadighi, Mainul Islam said, “We are from the remote area of Rajshahi, we practice sports and culture along with education. We are here as the divisional and the zonal champions, so we had the confidence that our boys will win the laurel.”
