Cambodian varsity rector meets  DU VC

Professor Dr Khy Sovanratana, acting rector of Sihanouk Buddhist University of Cambodia, called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman on Thursday at DU.

Prof Dr Sukomal Barua of DU Pali and Buddhist Studies Department and Principal Sukomal Barua, secretary general of Bangladesh Chapter of Religions for Peace-Asia were present, among others, on the occasion.

During the meeting at VC's office, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes between DU and Sihanouk Buddhist University, Cambodia.

Exchanges of teachers and students between the two academic institutions were also discussed in the meeting.

They expressed their willingness to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions to promote academic and research activities.

DU VC Prof Akhtaruzzaman thanked the guests for their visit to DU and keen  interest in its academic and research activities.

City Dental College, Japanese varsity sign MoU

Dental department of Health Sciences at the University of Hokkaido in Japan and City Dental College of Dhaka signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently at a hotel in the capital.

Under the MoU, Health Sciences of University of Hokkaido will facilitate the students of City Dental College for post-graduation.

Prof ASM Badruddoza, project director of City Dental College, and Prof Takashi Saito, dean of Health Sciences at University of Hokkaido, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

Dr Mustaq Hasan Satter, a professor of City Dental College; Dr Gazi Shamim Hassan, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University; Dr Humayun Kabir Bulbul, general secretary of Bangladesh Dental Society; Prof Dr Rakiba Sultana and high officials of the Japanese embassy in Dhaka, were also present at the event.

Seminar on survey of genocide held at JU

SAVAR: A seminar on 'Survey of Genocide and Mass Killing Ground' was held on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus in Savar on Thursday.

Bangladesh History Summit and JU International Relations (IR) department jointly organised the seminar at the seminar room of Arts and Humanities faculty.

JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the seminar as  the chief guest.

Presided over by Chairman of JU IR department Associate Professor Khalid Kuddus, Noted Historians and Bangabandhu Researcher Professor Muntassir Mamoon delivered keynote speech at the function. Over 200 students of different departments were present at the event.
