Kendria Khelaghar Ashar, a national children's organisation, yesterday demanded forming a special tribunal to speedily try the perpetrators of the killings of children and violence against them across the country, reports UNB.
The organisation made the demand from a human chain formed in front of the National Press Club in the capital yesterday morning, marking its 66th founding anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, Khelaghar General Secretary Jahirul Islam Jahir urged the government to create awareness and take stern actions against the perpetrators to stop violence against children.
Researcher Dr Abu Sayeed demanded ensuring a safe and secure environment for the children.
Presiding over the human chain, Khelaghar Chairperson Prof Mahfuza Khanam said children are being killed and exploited every day across the country.
Presidium members of the organisation Dr Kazi Mozammel Hossain, Laila Hasan and Mokhlesur Rahman Sagar also spoke on the occasion.
