Two held with 13 lakh yaba in Chattogram

The Detective Branch (DB) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) in a drive arrested two brothers along with 13 Lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets from Shyamoli residential area under city's Halishahar thana early yesterday, reports BSS. The arrested were identified as Mohammad Ashraf Ali, 47, his younger brother Mohammad Hasan, 24, hailed from Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban district.

On a tip-off, a team of the DB police conducted a raid in the area around 4 am and nabbed the duo with 300,000 pieces of contraband yaba tablets from a house, said Mainul Islam, assistant commissioner of the DB of CMP.

Later, the DB team also recovered another consignment of 10 lakh pieces of yaba tablets from a private car in the garage of the house, he added. A case was filed with Halishahar Police Station in this connection, the sources added.

Earlier on March 17, 2018 Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized over 1.82 million yaba pills from Damdamia area of Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar.
