Abahani keep big margin victory

Mohammed Mohsin and Roamn Sarkar struck twice each as, Abahani Limited continued their goal galore winning run in the Green Delta Hockey Premier League when they brushed aside Victory Sporting by 8-0 at the Maulana Bhashani Hockey Stadium yesterday.

Meanwhile, Abahani Limited began their league campaign with crushing the Bangladesh Police by 10-0.   

In the day’s another match at the same venue Sonali Bank blanked Sadharan Bima by 3-1.

Predictably in the Abahani dominance match, one of the title contenders had to wait for 15 minutes to take the lead  when Mohammed Mohsin opened the scoring on 16th minute when he found the net after receiving a cross from Rumman Sarkar, who released the ball from outside the circle (1-0).

After taking the lead, Abahani did not look back but to increasing the margin and scored more seven goals in the rest of 55 minutes.

Rumman Sarkar, who assisted Mohsin to open the net, scored two goals in a span of three minutes when he converted two successive penalty corners. Rumman sounded the board first on 21st minute and converted the second penalty corner three minute later when Abahani utilised four penalty corners out of seven they were awarded (3-0).

It was another interval when Abahani took 10 minutes to go for goal when Asharful Islam made the tally 4-0 on 34th minute which was also a perfect conversion  of a penalty corner.

After finishing the opening 35 minutes game on 4-0, Abahani scored as many goals in the post lemon break period and this time Krish Kumar reopened the scoring with converting fourth penalty corner on 42nd and Arshad Hossain scored a super field goal with a reverse hit closely to the post right on 50th minute (6-0).

Sarwar Hossain enlarged the tally with another field goal when it was a beautiful finish of a combined attack built up through the left side and the forward beat a host of defenders with a strong hit on 66th (7-0). Mohammed Mohsin scored his second and the eighth for Abahani to close the sheet two minutes before the last whistle of the match (8-0).

Victoria Sporting Club, despite playing with three India players- one defenders and two forwards could not halt Abahani or scored at least one goal.  

Mahbub Harun, coach of Abahani, who was happy with two back to back massive victories said after match, "Team will be more organsied after recruiting the foreign players." ,  

In the day’s match, Sonali Bank came from a goal down to defeat Sadharan Bima by 3-1.

Loverose led Bima in the seventh minute and could keep their lead up to 23 minutes when Promod Dewan equalised for Sonali Bank. Rajib Das and Prosenjit struck apiece to guide the Bank to win the match by 3-1.
