Cop killed in Rajshahi road crash

A police constable was killed and another injured when a truck hit them at Sishutala in Charghat of Rajshahi early Thursday.

Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station, said the accident took place around 2 am when a truck hit constable Khademul Islam and constable Abdul Kuddus after being hit by another truck in the area, leaving Khademul killed on the spot and injured Kuddus.

Kuddus was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Four held with yaba in Rajshahi, Dhaka

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two persons with 6,900 yaba tablets in Rajshahi early Thursday.

The arrestees were identified as Subodh Barua alias Munna, 28, of Purba Merungla village under Ramu Upazila in Cox’s Bazar district and Rubel Ali, 27, of Bidirpur village under Godagari Upazila in Rajshahi district.

Acting a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in a Dhaka bound coach 'National Travels' at Seroil Bus Terminal under Boalia Police Station in Rajshahi city and seized the contraband tablets from their possession.

The RAB team detained the persons for their alleged involvement in yaba trading and trafficking.

Another report add from Dhaka: Members of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested the driver and helper of a long-route bus along with 29,500 yaba pills from Jatrabari of the city early Tuesday.

The arrestees are driver Monir Hossain, 38, and his helper Nobin Hossain, 24.

Based on secret information, members of CTTC’s Special Action Group challenged air-conditioned ‘Royal Paribahan’ bus coming from Cox’s Bazar near Speedboat CNG Filling Station around 4:15 am, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.

Searching the bus, the law enforcers recovered 29,500 Yaba tablets and arrested the driver and the helper, he said.
