Five people were killed in separate road accidents in Dinajpur and Sirajganj yesterday. Our Dinajpur correspondent says: Two persons were killed in a road accident on Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway at Pochishmile in Birganj upazila yesterday evening. The deceased were identified as Zakir Hossain, 32, and Abu Sayeed 29, of Panchagarh sadar upazila. Witnesses said the accident took place at around 6.00pm when a Panchagarh-bound BRTC bus hit a motorcycle leaving its riders Zakir and Sayeed dead on the spot.
Our Sirajganj correspondent reports: At least three persons were killed and 30 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Dhaka-Bogra highway at Kashem intersection in sadar upazila yesterday evening.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. Helal Uddin, OC of Bangabandhu Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge (West) police, said the accident took place at around 5.30pm while a Dhaka bound bus of Dipzal Paribahan collided with a truck, killing two persons on the spot and inuring 31 others. Of the injured, an infant succumbed to his injuries at Sirajganj Sadar Hospital. Twenty of the injured were admitted to sadar hospital and different local clinics in the town.
A case was filed in this connection.
