�Mugger� shot dead by police

An alleged mugger was shot dead by police in Wari area of the capital. The deceased was identified as Akash alias Ferdous.
According to Inspector Tapan Chandra Saha, officer-in-charge of Wari Police Station, three muggers attacked a banker on a rickshaw to snatch his valuables near the Ovisar Cinema Hall at Wari in the capital yesterday at 3:30pm.
As the victim cried out for help, policemen on duty rushed to the spot. Sensing police presence, the muggers hurled cocktails and police was forced to open fire, leaving Akash, one of the alleged muggers, injured, said police.
Akash was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at 4pm where he succumbed to injuries at 5pm, said the OC.
