Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu yesterday said the contract negotiations are going on with two foreign companies for establishing five full-fledged centres of Bangladesh Television (BTV) at the divisional headquarters of the country, reports BSS. “The government is negotiating with the China based Areospace, Long-March International Trade Company Ltd and Radio, Film and TV Design and Research Institute for setting up the BTV centres,” he said while replying to a question from treasury bench member Mamtaz Begum in the Jatiya Sangsad. The minister said the government would establish the BTV centres in Rajshahi, Rangpur, Sylhet, Khulna and Barisal.
Besides, the government has undertaken a project to construct district information complexes and modernize the existing ones at a cost of Tk 1,332 crore, Inu said. He informed the House that a project titled ‘Construction of 68 New Information Complex with Modernization of Development Communi-cation Activities’ has been undertaken for modernization of district information offices and construction of the district information complexes.
A Development Project Proposal (DPP) to this effect has sent to the planning commission.
The minister said the project would be implemented from June 2015 to July 2020.
Meanwhile, the government has singed an agreement with a construction firm for building the 16-stroey Information Building at a cost of Tk 60.73 crore and the work on the project will begin as soon as possible,” Inu said.
