Property attachment of absconding accused ordered

A Narayanganj court yesterday passed an order for attachment of properties of absconding accused by the next hearing date on October 7 in the sensational 7-murder case.
Senior Judicial Magistrate HM Shafikul Islam passed the order yesterday after twenty two arrestees accused in the two cases were produced before the court, court inspector Habibur Rahman confirmed.
The court inspector claimed that the instruction for attachment of property of eight absconding accused were returned immediately by their concerned police stations mentioning that they had no property worth confiscating. The remaining five absconding accused will be noticed by the police stations in the area for attachment of their properties.
According to the investigation report, 35 persons were charged in the two murder cases. The accused include 25 former members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-11 including its ex-commander and a Narayanganj City Corporation former councilor Nur Hossain, who is a ruling Awami League leader
Narayanganj Detective Branch of Police Inspector Md. Mamunur Rashid Mondol on April 8  submitted charge sheet against 35 people, including three sacked RAB officials -- Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Major Arif Hossain and Lt Commander MM Rana -- and Nur Hossain, in connection with the sensational seven murders.
Of them, 22 were arrested while 13, including prime accused Nur Hossain, remained absconding since the murders.
On April 27 last, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in the city. At the same time, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge's Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya river on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on May 1.
Later, two cases were filed in connection with the murders.
