AL doesnt believe in politics of attack on minority: Ashraf

The Awami League General Secretary and Public Administration Minister, Syed Ashraful Islam, yesterday said that the Sheikh Hasina government does not believe in the politics of attack on the country’s ethnic minority.
“Those who attack the minority are cowards. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not believe in the politics of attack on minority,” he said while addressing a gathering at the inaugural ceremony of the historic Janmashtomi 1422, organised by
the Sarbojanin Puja Committee and the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad, in the city.
Ashraf said Bangladesh is for all Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists and Christians. The present government is committed to ensure rights for all its citizens belonging to different religious faiths.
Meanwhile, the Health and Family Welfare Minister, Mohammad Nasim, said Hindus and Muslims as well as people of all other religions had sacrificed their lives to liberate Bangladesh.
“Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dreamed that Bangladesh would be a peaceful land for people of all religions. His daughter, and Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina too has been working relentlessly for the betterment of all people of different religious faiths,” he said. Nasim, also a member of AL presidium, said this at a rally in Sirajganj town that was organised to celebrate Janmashtami.
He said that whenever the AL assumed power it tried to turn Bangladesh into a non-communal country. The AL leader said the properties of Hindu people were occupied before the independence of the country and most of them were declared as “enemy property”, but Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib cancelled the black law to give back the right to property to the Hindus.
