Last Day Of Campus Life

HABIBULLA MASUM
Last Day Of Campus Life

The best way of suppressing the grief of leaving your campus and framing the evergreen memories is to enjoy a significant day that students can sweetly reminisce about for the rest of their life.

The day, commonly known as rag day, is observed by Master’s students, marking the end of one journey and the beginning of another. The 19th batch of the Department of Communication and Journalism (CAJ) of Chittagong University (CU) arranged a rag day on March 27 to celebrate their university life with the slogan, ‘Deadline of the 19th batch’.

To mark the day, the students held a day-long colourful programme with a rally, cultural programmes and lunch party.

The first day of university life, first introduced to new friends. How many unfamiliar faces in all, one kind of spirit was among all. Some were busy finding a good friend; some were busy reading a book. That’s how they started their journey with the department on January 1, 2013. Now, in 2018, they are leaving with tears in their eyes.

On the last day, some were seen wiping their tears after embracing their friends of five years. Some were seen suppressing tears behind smiling faces as they were leaving the ever-memorable campus where they had passed five years.

“Memories of last five years are hitting me now and then. I can’t even think that I have to leave my friends and the evergreen campus in a few days. But it’s a rule; I have to obey it. When I think about it, I can’t stop crying,” said Fahim Hasan, a graduating student.

However, the thrilling day was greatly celebrated in a festive mood, with the enthusiastic participation of the 19th batch students, along with all other students of the CAJ department to preserve the day on their canvas.

On the day, some were enjoying splashing coloured water, some were throwing colour powders on their friends, and some were dancing. Many were seen capturing the moment on camera and some were seen busy taking selfies.

The students brought out a rally at 10:30 am from the Social Science faculty. After parading the whole campus, they went for lunch. After that, they held a music party, where several local bands performed.

Above all, the students enjoyed the cultural programmes, and the celebrations ended with fireworks and balloons at night.

SM Atiqur Reza, a graduating student, said: “I couldn’t believe one day I would have to leave the ever-popular campus. Tears come to my eyes when I think about it.”

Sumaia Yasmin, another student, added: “The campus gives me everything. It is a matter of great sorrow that we have to leave our friends and beloved juniors and also our respected teachers.”
