Public voice to free society from graft underscored

BSS

RAJSHAHI: Speakers at a public hearing session here unequivocally called for raising voice against institutional corruption to free the society from the social disease, reports BSS. They mentioned if all the community people forge social resistance and raise their voice against corruption strongly none can dare to commit the crime.

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee (UCPC) jointly organized the daylong public hearing at Bagmara Upazila Parishad Hall Room in the district yesterday.

ACC Commissioner AFM Aminul Islam addressed the meeting as chief guest with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jakiul Islam in the chair.

Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi SM Abdul Kader moderated the hearing session. ACC Directors Abdul Aziz Bhuiyan and Muniruzzaman, Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Shahidullah, Upazila Chairman Advocate Jakirul Islam and UCPC President Abdus Samad also spoke.

Aminul Islam has expressed a strong note of warning that no corrupt element will go unpunished. “It's high time to ensure all public services corruption- free.

We can't keep an uneven path of corruption for our future generation.

We want to establish a country free from corruption,” he added.

ACC Commissioner urged all to raise their voice against corruption unitedly to fight the long persisting social menace effectively.

He said: “No graft suspect will be spared. All suspects will be brought to justice. So, there's nothing for the corrupt elements to be happy.”

He mentioned that corruption undermines economic development and increase poverty, exploitation and injustice, prevent good governance, accountability and transparency and create social and political instability and insecurity.

He added institutional corruptions have to be checked first before taking lawful action against a person who is involved in corruption willingly or unwillingly.

Aminul Islam also said though elimination of corruption is a very difficult task, still, we have to work together to reduce corruption. He laid importance on creation of awareness among the mass people, especially the young generation, to eliminate corruption from the society. Concerted effort is crucially important to check bribery as it is impossible for the ACC alone to fight corruption.
