In a mobile court drive, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday fined 32 pedestrians Tk 3,000 for jaywalking at Kakoli crossing of Banani in the city, reports UNB. DMP Executive Magistrate Moshiur Rahman conducted the drive from 11am against those found crossing the road without using footbridge within a certain distance. The initiative to conduct mobile court drive against traffic rule violators was undertaken to raise awareness among pedestrians, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Traffic-North) Prabir Kumar Roy. Mobile court activities will be intensified at every important point under the Traffic North Division in future to encourage passersby to use footbridges for crossing roads instead of risking their lives, he said.
