Student held for facebook post against Prophet

A student of Hajee Mohammed Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) was arrested yesterday in connection with derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed (pbuh).  Sub-Inspector of Kotwali police Hafizuddin said Al Masud Ali, a student of Level-4, Semister-2 of agriculture engineering department, uploaded a status on his facebook against Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) a few days ago. Students of HSTU immediately demanded arrest and punishment of Masud as a protest erupted in the university campus on Thursday. ATM Shafiqul Islam, proctor of the university filed a case with Kotwali police station on Friday evening under the section of 57 (1) against Masud. Police arrested Al Masud early yesterday from university campus and sent him  to jail.
