Habiganj girl assaulter sent to juvenile correction centre

A Habiganj court yesterday sent a teenage boy arrested on charge of sexually harassing a schoolgirl to Juvenile Correction Centre in Tongi, reports UNB. Judge Aftabullah of the District Childrens Court passed the order as police produced Ruhul Amin Rahul, 16, before his court in the afternoon. Neither Rahuls parents nor any relative were present at the court while acting deputy director of the district office of the Department of Social Services declined to take the teenage boy under his custody for security reasons. Earlier on Friday, police arrested Rahul from Richi village in Sadar upazila after the video footage of a schoolgirl being sexually harassed by him in broad daylight in the district town went viral on social networking site Facebook. The video clip showed Rahul, a Class-IX student of Habiganj High School and College and a resident of Rajnagar area of the district town, slapping the Class-VIII girl of Habiganj Girls School and dragging her by her hair on August 26. Victims family members said Ruhul used to tease a Class-VIII girl of the girls school who is also a friend of the victim. As the girl informed her family members of the incident, her brother beat Ruhul around one month ago. Ruhul, however, blamed the victim for the incident. On August 26, Ruhul swooped on the victim when she came out of her school around 4pm for home. However, the incident came to light when the video clip was uploaded on the social networking site Facebook on Thursday.
