Police yesterday arrested one person for his alleged involvment with murder of two people at a shrine in Banglabazar area under Bayezid police station in the city on Friday. The detainee was identified as --- Abdul Mannan Mana (40), a resident of Shershah colony in Banglabazar area. Paritosh Ghosh, deputy commissioner (North) of Chittagong Metropolitan police said, “We detained Mana for the sake of investigation as he had land dispute with the dead Lengta Fakir.” However, ‘Saint’ Rahmatullah alias Lengta Fakir (55) and Abdul Quader (30), an associate of Rahmatullah and the custodian of a local shrine named ‘Lengta Mamur Mazar’ in Banglabazar area under Bayezid police station were hacked to death by unidentified assailants at around 2pm on Friday. The reason behind the murder could not be ascertained immediately.
