Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) will resume with fifth-round fixture after a three-day break at two different venues across the country today.

As per the fixture, table-toppers BCB North Zone will take on Islami Bank East Zone at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, while Prime Bank South Zone will face off Walton Central Zone at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.

Like North Zone, East Zone held their pre-match day training session at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday under the supervision of the head coach Imran Sarwar.

“There is a hope of getting result in Mirpur if wicket remains even coupled with batsmen and bowlers will get an equal advantage,” Sarwar told media after their practice session.

The coach thinks that if they could take risk the result will then be possible from the last few round games.

He said that the next round of games are vital for the top three teams who fare well will be victorious in the longer version league.

“With the top team (North Zone), we (East Zone) have a two-point difference. Another team (South Zone) is a point below us,” he said.

“This year any team among these three teams could be champions. Those who will cut a good figure in the last two-round matches will be champions of the league,” he viewed.

North Zone led the standings of the BCL points table with 41. Islami Bank East Zone are languished second with 39 points, while Prime Bank South Zone closely follow them with 38 points.

North Zone will play their fifth round match without their key performer Mushfiqur Rahim, who sidelined for three-week with heel injury what he sustained during practice.
