Rafi to represent Bangladesh in world soccer festival in Moscow

Sports Reporter

Golam Rafi is the lucky boy who got the opportunity to go to Russia in a soccer festival to be organised by FIFA on the occasion of 2018 World Cup in Moscow.

Rafi was selected by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) when 200 young booters competed in the trial and Rafi just qualified followed by his elder brother Golam Rabbi, who represented Bangladesh last year when FIFA invited young booters from 64 countries to visit venues of the World Cup 2018 and join in a festival - the Gazprom Football Festival.

This time, Golam Rafi is a defender who is just three minutes younger to his twin brother Rabbi will have the opportunity to play in the Gazprom Football Festival game when he was selected by lottery.

However, Rafi will have the great opportunity to watch the opening ceremony and the opening match of the 2018 World Cup between host the Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Rabbi will represent Bangladesh when young booters from 211 countries will join in the festival but all of them will not have the opportunity to play on the festival competition.

Rafi, along with four other representatives, led by Harunur Rashid, member of BFF, will go to Moscow when they will leave Dhaka on June 7 and expected to return after the opening match June 14. The joy of Rafi knows no bounds, the student of Class VII of the Haji Alam Chand High School is now counting down when the moment will come to fly for Russia, which just crossed his dream also.

Rafi was inspired by his brother Rabbi, who always tells the tale of his Russia visit after return from Moscow last year and began to dream to go to Russia and has been trying his best to qualify and unbelievably his dream is going to be true when he is scheduled to go Russia on June 7.

Bashir Uddin Ratan and Mehbuba Ratan, father and moter of Rafi are very happy as their younger son was also selected to represent Bangladesh.

“Really it is a great pleasure that Rafi was selected to represent Bangladesh and just followed by my elder son Rabbi, who was selected last year. Rafi is representing Bangladesh, we are proud of my sons, it’s only prayer that he may keep the pride of the country.”
