Mentioning that the growth in income from the country's Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is over 100 percent, Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu yesterday said the government has been working to attain $5 billion export target from the ICT sector by 2021, reports BSS.
"We're earning around $180 million from the ICT sector every year while the government is also working to attain $5 billion export target from the ICT sector by 2021. If we can make popular the BPO industry to the new generation, then it's possible to boost the income from this sector to two or three times," said the Minister.
The Industries Minister said this while addressing a seminar titled "4th Industrial Revolution: Challenges of Business Process Outsourcing" held at a city hotel marking the BPO Summit 2018. The ICT Department and Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing jointly organized the seminar.
Moderated by the Boston Consulting Group managing director Zarif Munir, BCG principal Nitin Chandalia presented the key-note paper at the seminar.
ICT Division joint secretary M Mohsin-ul-Haque spoke on the occasion while some entrepreneurs of the ICT and BPO sector also shared their experiences.
