Rickshaw-van puller killed in road accident

A rickshaw-van puller was killed in a road accident in Churkhai area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at sadar upazila here yesterday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Mannan, 65.

Quoting locals, police said Mannan died on the spot when a Dhaka-bound truck crushed him while he was crossing the road around 10am.

Protesting the accident, locals put up a barricade for over an hour, hampering vehicular movement on the highway.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

A case was lodged with Kotwali thana in this connection.
