Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested seven suspected militants from Anandabag residential area of Askardigirpar in port city Chattogram on Friday. RAB in the press release said they are active in operating groups in Whatsapp named ‘Ikhwan’ and ‘Deen Force Extreme’, said Mimtanur Rahman, senior assistant director of RAB.
The arrestees were Md Mohiuddin Tamim, 29, Md Ajfar Hossain, 21, a student of Chittagong University of HRM department; Md Imran Khan, 27; Chowdury Ridwan, 27, a former student of North South University (NSU); SM Jawad Zafar, 26, a former student of International Islamic University and Md Muntasir, 26. RAB said they also recovered laptops used by them and leaflets. Among the arrestees, two are the employees of Premier Cement, two are the employees of the Young One. There is also a student who was rusticated from NSU.
“They were publishing the video of torture on Muslims in different countries and preparing themselves for the jihad (religious uprising). They are trying to follow the IS, said Mimtanur Rahman.
