Bangladesh national basketball team lost their first match against Punjab Police in the All India Invitation Basketball Tournament at Rakhi Sangha Ground in Kolkata yesterday.
The team faced Punjab Police basketball team on their first match of the tournament and lost by 82-93 points. Mithun Biswas swept 18 points, Sohaib16 points and Mithun Sarker 14 points for Bangladesh.
‘All India Invitation Basketball Tournament’ has been organised to celebrate the 100 years of establishment of the Kolkata’s legendary club Rakhi Sangha, where both men’s team and woman’s team are participating in the tournament.
Invited by West Bengal Basketball Association, both Bangladesh national men’s team and woman’s team are participating. The tournament is hosting six teams in the men’s section and four teams in the women’s section.
Along with Bangladesh national team, Punjab Police, Indian Overseas Bank, Central Railway, D.L.W and Rakhi Sanhga are participating in the men’s section. In the women’s section Bangladesh woman’s basketball team will face off with South Central Railway, South Western Railway and Rakhi Sangha.
