Education system
Sir,
Education is the backbone of a country. The main purpose of education is to enlighten the illiterate with knowledge and broaden their mind frame so that they can improve their outlook and perception. The present situation in the education sector is that parents only want good results from their children without trying to find out how much knowledge the children have gathered. As a result, the inner qualities in a child lie dormant and unexplored. As the children grow up, they continue to falter in their working life and it becomes increasingly difficult for them to land on a reasonable job. This is also true if they decide to go for higher education as they lack sufficient knowledge about a particular discipline.
The government, like most of the parents, is also more inclined towards a system that only encourages the students to secure high marks only by any means regardless of the knowledge being acquired by the students in the process. If we look at the statistics of the students obtaining GPA-5 in S.S.C and H.S.C exams, we shall see that the number of students obtaining GPA-5 has doubled during the period from 2010 to 2015. Sadly, most of them fail to qualify for admission in public universities.
On the other hand, if we look at the education system of a developed country like Japan, we find that the system is mainly based on research. As a result, the students can easily cross the barriers in education. As a developing country, we should recast our system so that it enables our students to gather knowledge at every level and qualify for higher education system easily.
