Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu has said the government is giving special incentives to the entrepreneurs of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector to establish sustainable and green industries in the country, reports BSS.
“The rate of air pollution of SME factories is lower than the heavy industries. That’s why we are giving special incentives in establishing green SME factories,” he said.
The Industries Minister made the remarks while addressing a session titled ‘Greening of SMEs and Enhancing National Productivity: the Role of Circular Economy’ of the ‘High Level Eighth Regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific’ held in Madhya Pradesh of India on Wednesday, according a message received in the capital yesterday.
He said the SME sector is contributing a lot to the country’s GDP while it is also creating employment opportunities here. ‘About 25 per cent of the country’s total GDP comes from SME.”
