UN concerned over political situation

The United Nations is concerned about the current political situation as well as the political space in Bangladesh. The global body also reiterated its call to the government of Myanmar to implement the Annan commissions recommendations which provide a guideline to solution to the problems including the issue of citizenship for the Rohingyas.
I think weve expressed our concern about the current political situation, the political space in Bangladesh, Stphane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN secretary-general, told a regular briefing in New York on Wednesday when asked if against the background of
jailing of opposition leader in Bangladesh, the global body chief Antnio Guterres, during his telephone conversation with prime minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday, spoke about the political situation in the country in addition to the Rohingya crisis.
The secretary general did speak did have that phone call. It did focus on the Rohingyas. And again, I think the secretary general thanked the people of Bangladesh and its government for hosting hundreds of thousands of people, he said about the phone call. There is a concern, as the monsoon season approaches, that the shelter in the camps that they may have that they have may not be adequate, and theres an effort by the international community with the support of Bangladesh to ensure that safer shelter is found, he added.
