Another accused in Sylhet double murder case held
Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested an accused from Cumilla in a case over the killing of a woman and her son from a house in Mirabazar area in Sylhet city on April 1.
The arrestee was identified as Tania, a domestic help of the victims’ house. A team of PBI conducted a drive in Titash area of Cumilla early in the morning and arrested Tania, said Rezaul Karim Mallik Reza, special police superintendent of Sylhet PBI.
On April 1, police recovered the bodies Rokeya Begum, 40, and her SSC examinee son Rabiul Islam Rokon, 15 from their rented house in Mirabazar area.
Later, a case was filed against 4-5 unidentified people with Kotwali Model Police Station.
713 BTCL phone, internet lines cut in Nilkhet exchange
About 713 telephone lines and internet services of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) under Nilkhet Exchange got disconnected due to cutting of underground optical fiber.
The clients of Suble Das Lane, Lalbag road, Lalbag Fort road, Lalbag post, Harnath Ghosh road, Lalbag Chourasta, BUET Chourasta and adjacent areas have been out of both telephone and internet connections following the damage of the fiber for development works, said a BTCL press release yesterday. BTCL is working for reinstating the disconnected telephone lines and internet connections. The BTCL authority regretted to its customers for the unexpected inconvenience, the release added.
