Six tonnes of hilsa fry seized in Ctg

A mobile court yesterday seized around six tonnes of jatka (hilsa fry less than 10 inches in length) worth Tk 30 lakh from Sadarghat area of the port city yesterday. The mobile, led by Ramij Hasan, executive magistrates of Chittagong District Administration, conducted the raid in the area where Lt Col Ahekur Rahman of RAB-7 and representative of Directorate of Fisheries were also present. Mimtanur Rahman, director media of RAB, said on information the court raided the area from 9am to 12pm and seized six tonnes of hilsa fry worth about Tk 30 lakh. He said the court also fined one Mehedi Hasan Tk 5,000 in this regard and distributed the jatka among orphanages, said Mimtanur.
