The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) submitted its annual report of 2017 to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban yesterday, reports UNB. An ACC delegation, led by its Chairman Iqbal Mahmood, submitted the report in yesterday afternoon. The delegation members included ACC Commissioners Nasiruddin Ahmed and AFM Aminul Islam and its Secretary Dr Mohammad Shamsul Arefin.
While talking to reporters after coming out of Bangabhaban, the ACC chairman said over 3,200 corruption prevention committees and 4,000 Satata Sanghas (Integrity Units) were formed in 2017 compared to previous year. The Commission is working to teach students honesty from their early age through different awareness programmes for building a bright and corruption-free future generation, he said.
Criticising students and their guardians who always seek highest grade point average (GPA) in examinations, the ACC chief said there is no alternative to pursuing quality education. "We've presented recommendations in various sectors, including education, to create skilled and capable human resources."
Iqbal Mahmood said the catching of bribe-taking government officials and employees through traps will continue.
