Women recruitment in BCS declines

The rate of women recruitment through the BCS examination has declined over the last four BCS tests, reports UNB. The rate of recommended women candidates decreased to only 26.22 percent in the 36th BCS examination from 55.10 percent in the 32nd BCS (Special) examination, according to a report placed in Parliament yesterday. Public Admission Minister Syed Ashraful Islam placed the annual report of Bangladesh Public Service Commission in the House.
As per the report, the rate of recommended women candidates was 38.26 percent in the 33rd BCS examination, while that was 35.62 percent in the 34th BCS examination and 27.92 percent in the 35th BCS examination.
In 32nd BCS (Special) examination, a total of 1,675 candidates were recommended for recruitment. Of them, the number of women was 923 (55.1pc) while that of men was 752 (44.90pc).
In the 33rd BCS examination, a total of 8,507 candidates were recommended. Of them, there were 3,255 (38.26pc) women against 5,252 (61.74pc) men.
In the 34th BCS examination, a total of 2,176 candidates were recommended. Of them, the number of females was 775 (35.62pc), while that of males was 1,401 (64.38pc).
In the 35th BCS examination, a total of 2,181 candidates were recommended. Of them, there were 609 (27.92pc) women against 1,572 (72.07pc) men.
