Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed former Indian cricketer Devika Dilip Palshikar as assistant coach and her compatriot Anjna Dalvi as physio for Bangladesh women’s cricket team ahead of their hectic international schedule.

Bangladesh women’s team will travel to South Africa on April 28 to play a bilateral series. Therefore, they will fly to Malaysia to play ACC Women’s Asia Cup Cricket just seven days after their return from South African tour.

The Tigress will then take off Ireland for a three-match T20Is series 10 days after being returned from Malaysia. They will travel to the Netherlands to play the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, which will be played in between July 3-14.

The 2018 edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup will be held in the Caribbean Islands of West Indies in November.

Devika will be the second Indian cricketer, who will take the charge of the Bangladesh women’s cricket team after Mamtha Maben. The BCB appointed Mamtha prior to the 2011 ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, from where Bangladesh got their ODI along with T20I status  what they did with a resounding nine-wicket victory over USA.

Devika Palshikar had played one Test and 15 one-day internationals for the Indian national fold during her three-year-long international career, spanning from 2006-2008.

The 39-year-old right-hander will assist head coach David Capelo, who is all set to return to Dhaka from England on April 10 to join the upcoming training camp.

With the help of the selectors, the board meanwhile picked a 30-member preliminary squad for the two-week-long training camp, which will be kick-started in Sylhet on April 12 following their report in Dhaka on April 10.

Bangladesh eves’ will play five-match ODI series along with three-match T20Is series during their stay in South Africa.

Nazmul Abedin Fahim, national manager of BCB Games Development, admitted the busy schedule of the women’s team and said that they will start a training camp for the South African Series on April 10.

“Bangladesh women’s cricket team will go to South Africa on April 28. For this, their camp will begin on April 10. They will report in Dhaka but the actual camp will start in Sylhet on April 12,” said Nazmul Abedin Fahim.
