The play will be brought to the stage as a part of the five day theatre festival ‘Syed Badruddin Hossain Smriti Natyatsab’.
Padatik Natya Sangsad has organised the festival ‘Syed Badruddin Hossain Smriti Natyatsab and Sharok Sommanona’ (Syed Badruddin Hossain Memorial Theatre Festival and Memorial Award 2018) to celebrate the 95th birth anniversary (April 11) of late eminent educationist, Language Movement veteran, lifetime chairman of Padatik Natya Sangsad and Ekushey Padak winner Syed Badruddin Hossain.
The play ‘Iblish’ tells the story of a group of indigenous performers called ‘Shong’ from the greater Tangail region, who makes laughter through their acts. But ironically, real-life hardships remain concealed in their laughter.
On the other hand, Mymensingh-based Anwesha Theatre will bring their production ‘Jaytun Bibir Pala’ today at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA at the same time.
The festival will continue till April 9. Each day, two plays will be staged at 7:15pm simultaneously at the National Theatre Hall and Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. l
