Sylhet: A court here yesterday sent Mohaimin Noman, one of the two siblings arrested in connection with the killing of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das, to jail on completion of his seven-day remand, reports UNB. Judge of Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate court-3 Anwarul Haque passed the order after inspector (organized crime) of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Arman Ali, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Mohaimin Noman before the court. Inspector Arman Ali told reporters that Noman was directly involved in the killing of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das adding that remand might be sought again against him if it is necessary. Earlier, on Wednesday, Noman’s elder brother Manan Rahi made a confessional statement under section 164. A CID team also arrested another suspect, Abul Khayer, from Tukerbazar on the suburbs of the city early Wednesday. Earlier on August 28, members of CID of police arrested Mannan Rahi and his brother Mohaimin Noman, 26, from East Faljur village in Kanaighat upazila. On the same day, they were put on a seven-day remand in connection with the killing.
Rahi, also a student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, used to post writings on his facebook account against bloggers and his brother Noman used to run several facebook accounts. Ananta, also an activist of Sylhet Ganajagaran Manch, was hacked to death by a group of assailants at Subidbazar Bankalapara in the city on May 12.
