 2 private clinics sealed off
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Jhenidah

Mobile courts in separate drives in Jhenidah on Wednesday sealed off two private clinics following reports of death of patients due to wrong treatment. According to Shailkupa upazila nirbahi officer Sandip Kumar Sarkar, a mobile court closed down Aysha Clinic and seized machines, documents and medicines from there during the drive. Shailkupa upazila health and family planning officer said a patient identified as Hitlar of Shekhra bazaar died on Friday due to wrong treatment. Later, the local people vandalised the private clinic. Meanwhile, Jhenidah civil surgeon Dr Abdus Salam with local administration of Moheshpur sealed off Jonony Clinic and Nursing Home at Voiroba bazaar in an action relating to deaths of six pregnant women in wrong treatment over the past one month. Dr Salam said date-expired medicines were also found there during the raids.


1,500 Kg hilsa fish seized
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Satkhira

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 1,500 kilograms of hilsa fish while being smuggled to India through Alipur check post area in Satkhira Sadar upazila yesterday morning. Major Nazir Ahmed Bakshi, acting commander of BGB Battalion-38, said a BGB team conducted a drive in the area and seized a truck loaded with hilsa worth about TK 15 lakh. The smugglers and truck driver managed to flee, he added.
Man hacked to death
OUR CORRESPONDENT, Tangail

Criminals hacked a youth to death in Tangail early yesterday. The youth was Abu Hanif, 30, hailing from village Moisanondalal in Tangail Sadar upazila. Sub Inspector of Tangail police station Rafiqul Islam said the criminals entered the house of Abu Hanif at early hours of Wednesday and hacked him with sharp weapon. They left the house after ensuring his death. Police recovered the body at 12am and sent it to Tangail Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Pervin Akhter, wife of Abu Hanif, lodged a murder case with Tangail police station. The cause of the murder was not known immediately.
