Three senior carrier diplomats have recently been elevated to the status of Secretary, according to sources at the Foreign Ministry.
The promoted diplomats are Ambassador to Japan Masud bin Momen, immediate-past Additional Foreign Secretary Mizanur Rahman and High Commissioner to Singapore Mahbub Uz Zaman.
The officials, who belong to the 1985 batch of BCS (Foreign Service Cadre), were promoted on August 27.
With the promotion of the trio, the Foreign Ministry now has 13 diplomats, who enjoy the status of Secretary.
According to the rules and regulations, the Foreign Ministry can have 13 diplomats with the status of Secretary including the Foreign Secretary.
Of them, two will be based at the headquarters including the foreign secretary while the remaining 11 will be posted at different missions with the Ambassadorial positions.
