The way Bangladesh are gradually progressing across the formats they needed some more times to be a tough side in all the formats as Mehidy Hasan Miraj, the youngster spin all-rounder said.
“Bangladesh cricket has been made a significant development for the last three to four- year span. It’s not possible to develop in everywhere at the same time. For this, we needed some more times,” said Mehidy Hasan Miraj.
“We’re not better in T20. But we’ve proved in Nidahas Trophy T20 Tri-series that we are progressing in T20. We had problems in Test, where in we have proved our progress beating England, Australia and Sri Lanka though we’ve already emerged as a stronger side in one-day cricket,” Miraj told sports reporters inside the gymnasium of the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Mirpur yesterday.
“For this, we’ve obviously needed some more times to be a tough side across all the formats,” he added.
For this, the 21-year-old Mehidy thought that they, the youngsters of the team, have to deliver their 60-70 percent effort to contribute for the team with the pace of the senior players and then it’s possible to do this.
“It’s true that our senior players are doing their jobs in right way. Beside them, if we-the junior players of the team- could contribute 60-70 percent, it’s then possible to win a match,” he viewed.
“We’ll try to work hard further and help our senior players. Hopefully we could overcome it as much as possible. If we could do this the team will then do well further,” he continued.
The youngster all-rounder, who has been performing well after stepping into the national fold in 2016, said that they have to toil hard on those areas where they needed to actually work for to reach at their expected level.
“All the formats of games are not alike. In Test, a bowler has to patiently bowl in one place. A bowler needs to bowl at different variation in one-day cricket. Along with that, we’ll have to have ability to check runs in T20 as much as possible. For this, we’ve to work on it. Along with that, we have to be tough mentally,” he told.
Citing his 7-ball 19 cameo knock against India in the Nidahas Trophy final, Mehidy Hasan said that such innings will provide impetus him and big boost for confidence in future games.
“Towards the end of the innings, it’s always tough to hit boundary and over boundary. Sometimes 10 or 15 runs could be vital for the team’s victory,” he said, adding: “I scored 19 runs against India in the Nidahas Trophy final, the innings that will give me confidence. Hopefully I could be utilized the confidence in the future games.”
He said that the opportunity they got from their senior players its success will depend on how they use it for their personal development.
“Those we’ve junior players in the national team are lucky enough that we’ve got some senior players, who dominate the current world cricket. We’re watching them and playing with them. We’re getting chance to learn many more things from them. It’ll be helpful for us to move forward our cricket in future,” he thought.
“At one stage, junior will be promoted to senior players. Then we’ll lead Bangladesh and bring the team ahead. I think, it’s a great opportunity for the junior players. It’s a matter of watching how we could use these opportunities for the development of ourselves,” he said.
