BCL man stabbed to death

Khagrachhari: A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist was stabbed to death allegedly by his rivals at PDB area in the district town on Saturday night, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Md Rasel, 18, son of Md Nur Hossain of Kadamtali Harinathpur area in the town and an activist of ward No-6 of BCL.

Quoting witnesses, officer-in-charge of Khagrachhari Sadar Police Station Md Shahadat Hossain Tito said that some unidentified miscreants swooped on Rasel at the area around 8:00pm and stabbed him indiscriminately.

Locals rescued critically injured Rasel and sent to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital from where doctors referred him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to CMCH, the OC added.

3 ‘robbers’ held with arms

Cox’s Bazar: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested three suspected robbers along with arms from Madhurchora area in Ukhia upazila here early yesterday, reports UNB.

The arrestees are Anwarul Islam, 28, Nurul Islam Bulu, 30 and Kamal Hossain alias Jasim Uddin, 33.

Tipped off that a gang of robber numbering 10/12 was preparing to commit robbery, a team of Rab-7 conducted the drive around 5:15 am and arrested three of them along with 11 firearms, four sharp weapons and 8 rounds of bullet, said a press release.

Man’s throat-slit body found

Pabna: Police recovered a throat-slit body of a man near his house at Kuladi village of Bharara union in Sadar upazila yesterday morning, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid Biswas, son of late Wahid Ali Biswas of the village.

Abdur Raja Bahadur, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that being informed by the local people, police recovered the body from nearby the deceased’s pond and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Abdur Rashid might be killed as a sequel to previous enmity, added the OC.

Woman killed in Narsingdi

A housewife was hacked to death allegedly by her husband over family feud at Daripara village in Dulalpur union of Shibpur upazila on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Nargis Akhter, 20, wife of Lokman Miah.

On Saturday morning, locals and relatives found Nargis, daughter of Salahuddin of Kamar Char village of Sadar upazila, dead while Lokman was injured.

Nargis’s uncle alleged that Lokman killed her wife for dowry while Lokman’s relatives claimed that some robbers killed Nargis and injured her husband.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy and Lokman was also admitted to the same hospital.

Shibpur Police Station officer-in-charge Abul Kalam Azad said they are investing into the matter. A case was filed in this connection, he added.

Woman killed ‘by son’

A woman was killed allegedly by her son at village Randia in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Ambia Khatun, 50, wife of Habibur Rahman of village Randia. Quoting local people, Md Mamun-or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station said Emdadul Haque, 26 used to quarrel with his parents to realise money for purchasing drugs. Sometimes he also beat up his mother Ambia Khatun, said the OC.

On the day of the incident, when Emdad insisted his mother for money, there was an altercation between them. At one stage, he hacked his mother with a knife leaving her critically injured at around 10pm, said the OC. Emdad also attempted to attack his father.

Hearing the scream of the victims, locals rushed to the spot and caught Emdad while he was fleeing the scene. Later he was handed over to Bhaluka Police Station.

On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
